Yellowstone 2021, Part 3 of 3
This post summarizes our whole two-week trip to Yellowstone / Grand Teton. The first post covers the week from May 23 to May 28. The second post covers the second week from May 29 to June 5.
All of the photos in these three posts can be found in this shared Google Photos album. More photos may be found in these shared Google Photos albums:
Here is a collage of all the bears I photographed - 14 in all (we saw 16 total, but I did not get pictures of two of them):
- Grand Teton National Park "likely bear spot"
- South of Canyon Junction
- Between Mammoth and Tower
- Between Mammoth and Tower (through the windshield, sorry)
- Between Mammoth and Tower (a couple of miles from the previous group)
- South of Mammoth
- Near the Yellowstone / Grand Teton border
- Grand Teton National Park "likely bear spot"
- Grand Teton National Park "likely bear spot"
- Grand Teton National Park, near the Moose entrance
- West of Tower Junction
- Gros Ventre River (next 6 Moose)
As a final thought - time is both your enemy and your ally if you go to Yellowstone. It is huge, even bigger if you include Grand Teton (as you should). If we had not stayed the full two weeks, we would only have seen two Moose and maybe 5 bears. Yellowstone is certainly more crowded during the peak of summer. We have gone in May (twice), June (twice), July (during the COVID-19 pandemic), and August. It can be frustrating during peak time not to be able to find a parking spot. But it is still worth it to see the grandeur of the United States' Original National Park.
